Great Melton U11s (12 points) beat Cringleford U11s (4 points) by 3 wickets at Cringleford in the South Norfolk Community League
Great Melton’s Under 11s moved a step nearer retaining the South Norfolk Community League Championship with a narrow victory over Cringleford, Connor Jermyn hitting the winning run with 5 balls to spare. Melton restricted their hosts to 57-5 with skipper Ryan Howard taking 2-10 and Patrick Walton 1-10 with two run outs by Jermyn and Josh Moore. It looked like being a lot less than 57 until Cringleford’s 6th wicket pair, Alfie Bowles (10 not out) and J.Sharred (11 not out) came together.
After Walton (4) and Aimee Palmer (0) were dismissed cheaply, Melton’s reply featured a good partnership between Howard (14) and Logan Stearman (13). There were a few jitters when both were out in quick succession but sensible batting by Jermyn (3 not out) and George Steward (3 not out) saw Melton to victory in the 16th over. Cringleford bowled and fielded well with A.Bowles, B.Bowles, Sharred and Lister all picking up wickets.
Melton are now 11 points clear of Rocklands Rustlers at the top of the table with one game each remaining. 7 points in their remaining match at Saxlingham on Sunday week will secure the title.
