Tom first played for Great Melton U11s in 2011 taking 13 wickets with his off-spin bowling to help them win the South Norfolk Community League. His dad, Martyn, took on the management of the U11s in 2012 and a further SNCL medal followed. Tom also spent two years in the Norfolk County squad before moving up to the U13s where 2 more SNCL championships were secured in 2013 and 2014 as well as appearances in the ECB and Alan Bridgewater finals and at Lords during the lunch interval of the 2013 Ashes test. While Tom’s off-spin accuracy and flight has improved and he has continued to pick up wickets, he has also developed as a batsman and as a captain – he skippered the U15s in 2015. He made his senior debut in 2014 in the Sunday A Team and has made rapid progress. After just a few games in the Cs or Bs he spent most of 2015 in the A Team and, last year, played 10 times for the 1st Team.   A student at Dereham Neatherd High School, Tom has, at the beginning of 2017, made 119 appearances for Melton, scoring 1073 runs, including a maiden 50. He has also taken 134 wickets at an average of 15.38.
