GREAT MELTON U9s lost to VAUXHALL MALLARDS U9s by 90 runs at Melton Park in the John Dewing Competition

In their first match of the season the U9s batted first against Vauxhall Mallards at Melton Park. After a determined start by openers Holly Marchant and Becky Greenslade the middle order lost wickets in quick succession. On his debut for the club Charlie Green batted well. With a total of 240 for 9 (195 net), Great Melton needed to capture quick wickets and Sam Johnson took two in the opening over. Melton fielded with determination but the more experienced visitors went on to score 305 for 4 (285) to win by 90 runs. The team played with great spirit and learnt much from this opening fixture which for some was their first ever cricket match.
