2013_GMCC Women_IndoorMelton Ladies got their new Women’s League indoor campaign off the a winning start with an excellent victory over Garboldisham.

Melton were put into bat , scoring quickly using the side walls and running well between the wickets. The first pair scored 42 runs and only lost one wicket and some great shots were played by Melton who eventually totalled 232-3.

When Garboldisham batted their first pair lost one wicket but the second pair looked comfortable, hitting the back wall and scoring runs.  Melton’s final over, with Garby’s third and final pair at the wicket, was a heart stopper.  Garboldisham needed 21 in the final over but  a good LBW appeal from Aimee Palmer and a great juggled catch from Sophie Harrad in two consecutive balls off Harrad’s bowling took Melton to a 13 run-win.  Melton’s team was well captained by Emily Reay and there was some great wicket keeping from Robyn Edge.  Beth Harmer fielded brilliantly and a special mention should also go to our debut player Megan who soon bonded with our tight- knit side and bowled with control.

Melton was very well-represented with the gallery outnumbering the Garboldisham supporters by 14 to 3!

The girls’ next match will be against Fakenham at Swaffham in two weeks time.
