GREAT MELTON C (26 points) beat DISS B (3 points) by 7 wickets in the Norfolk League Division 4SW.
Great Melton C Team, as usual, bore the brunt of the club’s top-end availability problems and only had 7 confirmed players on Friday night but, not only did Duncan Greenslade and Clive Rennie, manage a full team, they also managed to pull off their first victory of the season, beating Diss B by 7 wickets.
Having won the toss and elected to field first Chris Wright (4-34), Matt Rennie (2-9), Chris McKay (2-18) and Josh Wright (2-11) helped bowl out Diss for just 85 with Own Blakey’s 49 and Lewis Taylor’s 11 the only Diss double-figure scores.
Melton then lost Clive Gristwood and Greenslade, both adjudged lbw for ducks, to leave them 4-2 but Jamie Dutton, who had batted well the previous week was joined by Chris McKay and, by the time Dutton was dismissed for 19, Melton were close to victory. McKay (55 not out) just had time to complete a half-century as he and Chris Wright (1 not out) saw Melton to a 26-point win in the 26th over.
