2016_Henderson MattRight-hand batsman; Right-arm seam bowler

Matt joined Melton last season having previously played for Reepham and Salle. He lives in Norwich and works for 3Sun Group of Great Yarmouth so was looking for a club a little closer to home. In his debut season he impressed as a lively seam bowler and decent middle-order batsman, taking 23 wickets at 16.96 –  topping the bowling averages – and scoring 160 runs.  He was one of the more consistent performers in what was a disappointing season for the A Team. Originally from Taunton, Somerset, he acquired the nickname ‘Mole’ or ‘Moley’ and this sobriquet seems to have made a comeback now he’s a Melton. He moved to Norfolk to gain an MSc in Energy Engineering & Environmental Management at the UEA and he played British Universities cricket as well as club cricket for Reepham. His best cricketing performances so far – 6-23 and 87 not out – came during his days in Somerset but Matt says he’s “hoping to improve on those with Great Melton.” He’s recently become engaged and he and fiancé, Suzie, are welcome additions to the club.
