Friday 2nd September – U9s Tournament

There are 18 Under 9s, split into 3 evenly-matched teams (I hope!). They will all play each other (twice if time permits) with medals for the winners and a ‘Player of the Tournament’ award. This will be soft-ball Kwik Cricket. The tournament is will start at 4.00 p.m. and will probably finish at about 7.00 p.m. so youngsters will need to arrive by 3.45 p.m. at the latest. Presentations will take place at the end of the tournament and refreshments will be available.

Saturday 3rd September (a.m) – U11s/U13s Tournament

A combined U11s/U13s Tournament will take place on Saturday morning starting promptly at 10.00 a.m. so youngsters will need to arrive at 9.30 a.m for a 9.45 briefing on rules etc. 32 juniors will be involved in this so there will be 4 teams playing 8-a-side hardball cricket on both the junior and the senior pitches.

Saturday 3rd September (p.m.) – U15s/U17s Tournament & U13s Lads V Dads Match

There are 18 players in the Senior (U17s/U15s) Tournament so there will be 3 ‘sixes’ teams who will play each other twice during the afternoon. This tournament is scheduled to start at around 2.00 p.m. but is preceded by the End-of-Season Presentations of Trophies and Awards, so players will need to arrive by 1.00 p.m. It should finish by about 6.30 p.m. This will take place on the main pitch.

A ‘fun’ U13 Lads V Dads match will take place on the Junior pitch, also starting at 2.00 p.m. Teams have already been selected for this and it will be organised by Simon Carding – with special rules to comply with Health & Safety.

As usual on the Saturday there will be a bar selling alcohol, soft drinks, tea and coffee, a barbecue, cake stall a raffle and tombola-style fundraiser. If you have volunteered a raffle/tombola prize or cakes please bring it/them on the day. Most of the ‘fundraising’ will take place between 12.00 and 2.00 and the raffle will be drawn before the senior tournament commences. Parents of U9s are very welcome to join in with the festivities on the Saturday if they so wish.

Make sure you’ve got your tournament entry fee of £2.00 and a bit of money for refreshments (there will be an ice cream van on Saturday!) or a go on the tombola stall. Please make sure you have a good supply of drink and suncream/hat in case it is a hot, sunny day (the forcast is good) and a warm top just in case!  Dress code: normal cricket gear.

Finally a really important note! If you find you cannot, for any reason, play in the tournament, please let me know as soon as possible as the teams are sorted (and balanced!) in advance and it does cause problems when youngsters simply don’t turn up on the day.

In the case of inclement weather we will try to make an early decision if the event is postponed or cancelled and we will publish it on our website as soon as possible.
