Moxon JonLeft-hand batsman.

‘Moxy’ played club cricket for his dad’s team in Kent before moving to Norwich and joining Melton in 2003. A left-handed top or middle-order batsman, he played a major part in the B Team’s success in winning Division 8 in 2003, finishing runners-up in Division 7 in 2005 and winning Division 6 in 2008. The highlight of Moxy’s Melton career was his 106 against Happisburgh A in 2003. His lowest point was when he top-edged a ball into his face against Norwich Union, leaving him bruised and bloodied and spoiling his new club shirt!  After years in the Bs & Cs, Moxy found himself promoted to the A Team in 2015 and he took his chance well, proving one of the most consistent batsmen, scoring 236 runs with a top score of 62 to help them avoid relegation.  Last season he flitted between B & A Teams.  A good fielder who has also kept wicket (fairly badly!), Moxy always used to go into hibernation from September to April miraculously re-appearing as soon as outdoor nets started – let’s hope he still appears now he’s experiencing the joys of fatherhood!  He’ll always be fondly remembered as one half of ‘the undynamic duo’ on the 2011 Superheroes tour, Moxy’s Robin being slightly bulkier than the real version but not as bulky as Bubble’s Batman!  When Moxy made a rare appearance at the A.G.M. in 2009 he paid for it by being elected B Team skipper and did a good job until pressure of work forced him to relinquish the reins.   His penchant for egg and pickle means we avoid asking him to do the teas too often but he likes a bit of banter and is happy to give as good as he gets when the insults are being thrown.  In his 11 years at Melton ‘Moxy’ has played 243 times, hitting 3530 runs at an average of 18.01.  He’s even taken 7 wickets although no-one is sure when or how! Moxy did briefly venture into sports retailing so, if you see someone with a Bumblebee bat, he’s responsible!
