Great Melton U11s beat Topcroft U11s by 8 wickets at Melton Park in the South Norfolk Community League
Craig Wilson took a hat-trick and Ryan Howard and Aimee Palmer figured in a match-winning half-century partnership as Melton Under 11s bounced back from their 8-wicket defeat at Rocklands to beat Topcroft by the same margin the very next evening. Craig’s 3 wickets in successive balls – 2 bowled, 1 caught by Jake Bush – came towards the end of Topcroft’s innings and helped Melton restrict the visitors to 52-6. J.Ashken scored 16 and R.Ellis 10 in the Topcroft total. Aimee Palmer (3-0-11-1), Patrick Walton (1-0-5-1) and Ryan Howard (3-0-6-1) also took wickets but Fergus Hughes (3-0-8-0) and Lewis Thurston (2-1-2-0) bowled well too. Skipper Howard then led by example, scoring a classy 31 not out, including a six and 3 fours. He was well supported by Aimee’s 12 not out as Melton reached 53-0 in the 13th over.
The two games against Rocklands and Topcroft saw 6 new players in action and they all did well, showing there is plenty of strength in depth in the Under 11 squad. The Under 11s have now Won 3 and Lost 1 in the South Norfolk League.
