Final Over Win For Under 15s

GREAT MELTON U15s beat CRINGLEFORD U15s by 6 wickets at Melton Park in the South Norfolk Community League

Michael Farmer and Connor Stearmanย shared an unbroken 2nd wicket stand of 82ย as Melton U15s began their South Norfolk Community League campaign with victory over Cringleford.ย  Asked to chase 105 in 16 overs, skipper Farmer timed his innings to perfection, finishing on 43 not out as a wide on the second ball of the final over gave Melton victory.ย  He received excellent support from Connor Stearman who hit some superb cover drives in his unbeaten 26 after Craig Woolrich had been dismissed for 11.ย  Earlier Melton's bowlersย had struggled with line and length, conceding 35 in wides and no-balls as Cringleford's J.Taylor had threatened a much bigger score with an innings of 38.ย  His dismissal, bowled by Farmer, and some tighter bowling especially by Woolrich, slowed the scoring although former Melton player Johnny Malcolm batted well for his 28 not out.ย  It was a good victory but bowling and fielding are both areas in need of improvement.
