GREAT MELTON U11s beat GREAT ELLINGHAM U11s by 62 runs at Great Ellingham in the South Norfolk Community League
Aimee Palmer scored her maiden half century, took 2 wickets for 2 runs and captained the U11s to a convincing 62-run victory over Great Ellingham. It was a great evening for Aimee who opened the batting and put on 90 runs in little more than 12 overs in an unbroken opening stand with Kyle Weston (14). Her ninth bounday (8 fours and a six) brought up her half-century before her and Kyle retired. Logan Stearman (12 not out) and Josh Moore (4 not out) then added a further 20 runs as Melton finished on 110-0.
Ellingham’s reply started positively with M.Daly (6) and George Peasgood (11) running some excellent quick singles before Peasgood took one risk too many and was run out. Connor Freston (8) added a few runs but generally Melton bowled verty straight with Jacob Bush (2-1-2-1), Matthew Carter (2-0-6-0), Max Beckett (2-0-10-1) and Moore (2-0-10-0) showing Melton have plenty of strength in depth at this age group. Of the regular bowlers Craig Wilson (2-1-3-1), Kyle Weston (2-0-9-0) were their usual accurate selves but it was left to Aimee Palmer to complete her ‘woman-of-the-match’ performance with the final wicket as Ellingham were bowled out for 48.
With 2 South Norfolk games to go, at Mulbarton on Sunday and Topcroft next Wednesday, Melton U11s still have a 100% record.
