There were few changes at Great Melton Cricket Club’s A.G.M. with most of last season’s officers re-elected and subscriptions and match fees remaining the same as last season.
Chairman, Steve Phoenix, warned, though, of the need for more volunteers if the club is to continue to maintain its present coaching and match programme. There is a particular need for additional coaches (especially Level 2s), with the Tuesday Senior/U15 sessions a priority, while extra help is also needed on the Ground, Junior, Pavilion and Fund-raising/Social sub-committees.
With George Bunn stepping down as joint Coaching Coordinator, Ryan Hayward agreed to assume full responsibility and announced that pre-season nets will take place at Easton & Ottley College from Wednesday 27th February to Wednesday 17th April from 7.30-9.30 p.m.
With James Robb also standing down because of work commitments, Aslam Mohammed agreed to take on the vacant Sunday captaincy while Chris McKay volunteered to take over the Wicklewood Shield duties from Chris Elliott. However, the club is still looking for a representative from the juniors willing to serve on the Junior Sub-Committee.
Treasurer Leo DeSalis presented a rosy picture, the accounts showing a surplus of £5272 on the year ending 31st October. With both the Current and Development Accounts looking healthy, despite the acquisition of the new nets, the recommendation to keep subs and match fees the same was accepted. The subscriptions for 2019 are: Full Playing Member £40; Occasional Playing Member (5 games or less) £15; Women’s Cricket Only Member £25; Non-Playing Member £10; Junior Member £5 (includes ‘Family’ membership for siblings & parents). Students/Unemployed will pay half the senior fees.
The Constitution was amended to include the additional membership categories. With payments due from 1st April, it was also agreed that any playing members who had not paid their subs within 28 days of their first match would incur a £10 surcharge and will not be selected until the relevant fees have been paid.
Match fees will be £6 (£3 students/unemployed) for weekend matches and £2 midweek with players receiving £30 back if they provide a tea.

Shirt sponsor Anglia Pallets, the club’s other sponsors, the Fundraising Committee, the Tour organisers, 100 Club organiser, Celia Phoenix, and all the other officers and volunteers were thanked by the Chairman for their sterling efforts.
Finally, Matt Clarke announced ‘Christmas Drinks’ would be on Friday 14th December in Norwich (venue to be announced) with everybody welcome.
