Great Melton U13s lost to Garboldisham U13s by 75 runs at Garboldisham in the South Norfolk Community League
A disappointing display both in the field and with the bat saw Melton well beaten by 75 runs at Garboldisham, of which 42 were extras. Melton’s bowlers struggled to find their line and length and helped by some poor fielding Garboldisham raced to 49 for 1 off 5 overs. With four out of five Garby batsman scoring 20-plus runs, the innings finished on 148-3. The only shinning light was Craig Attewell who took three catches, finished with bowling figures of 3-0-17-0 and scored 13 runs. Melton knew that they would have to bat well to have a chance of winning but lost Sam Carding (6) in the second over. Rob Smith (14) and Connor Stearman (15) put on 30 runs before both were out in successive overs. Melton reached 56 in 10 overs and it left them an impossible task to score 92 runs in the final 6. Ben Carding (8) ran himself out, Alex Rennie (12) was bowled, Craig Attewell (13) caught and Matt Rennie (0) ran out as Melton were all out for 73 .
