Dave Adams, together with Dave Maskell, joined Great Melton from Saxlingham in 2014, having played for the Saxons since 2006.  He left them with an impressive record, having scored 4488 runs at an average of 43.57 in 143 appearances.  In 2013 he topped Saxlingham’s Alliance Division 2 batting averages with an impressive 72.11, having scored 649 runs.  Dave’s desire to continue to play in a higher standard of cricket following Saxlingham’s decision to drop several divisions, meant Melton gained an excellent first team cricketer with six centuries to his name and top score of 132. His most impressive all-round performance for the Saxons came in 2009 against Garboldisham when he scored 119 and took 7-57.  His off-spin bowling has, in fact, brought him 135 wickets.  In his first season with Melton Dave scored 295 runs with a highest score of 72, but the 1st Team found life tough in Alliance Division 1 and were relegated. Dave then went off on a trip to Australia among other places so missed the whole of 2015 but the former Head of P.E. at Stradbrook Business & Enterprise College was back in 2016 working at Wymondham College. He played 10 times for the 1st Team, scoring 336 runs including 2 magnificent centuries, 119 against Sprowston A and 110 not out, against Old Buckenham A.  Now off travelling again, we hope we haven’t seen the last of Dave’s talents.
