GREAT MELTON U11s beat SAHAM TONEY U11s by 136 runs at Melton Park in the Terry Moore Trophy
Great Melton U11s proved much too strong for gallant but inexperienced Saham Toney who were beaten by a massive 136 runs. The difference between Melton’s well-established junior set-up and Saham’s embryonic one was clearly illustrated by the fact that the visitors conceded 74 ‘extras’, including 41 wides, 17 no balls and 16 byes, while Melton conceded just 11, 6 wides and 5 byes. Corey Rushton top scored for Melton with 20 not out and there were decent contributions from Ben Johnson (9), Henry Marsh (7) and Jamie Granville (6) but there were two excellent run outs by J.Ross as the home side finished their 16 overs on 335-3, a net score of 317.
Melton then produced an excellent bowling and fielding display to restrict Saham to just 29 runs whilst taking 8 wickets. Mohit Badimela (3-2-2-3), Henry Bugg (2-0-1-2), Henry Marsh (2-2-0-1) and Joseph Graves (2-2-0-1) hardly conceded any runs at all, while Johnson (2-0-8-1), Granville (3-0-5-0) and Sam Davey (2-1-8-0) were also very impressive as Melton chalked up their 2nd Terry Moore Trophy win.
With James Robb and Matt Rushton unavailable thanks to David Bunn for organising and umpiring and to Maxine Rushton for her immaculate scoring.
