GREAT MELTON U11s beat ROCKLANDS U11s by 7 wickets at Rocklands in the South Norfolk Community League
An unbeaten 37 from Beth Harmer ensured that Melton U11s would finish their season on a winning note at Rocklands. Opening the batting with Kai Wilkinson-Loines, Bethany swept the first ball for four to set the tone for her innings before going on to play some delightful shots on both sides of the wicket. She hit 7 fours in her 37 and received excellent support from Kai who defended solidly early on before playing some more expansive shots as his innings developed. He finished on 15 not out as Melton chased down Rocklands’ total of 58 in 10 overs without losing a wicket.
Earlier skipper Finlay Hughes marshalled his bowlers well to restrict the home side. Ezra Leverett (3-1-4-0), Mark Attfield (2-1-4-1) and Sam Harvey (3-1-8-1) were particularly impressive with the ball while Wilkinson-Loines and Harvey held good catches and Saxon Earley again put in an impressive display behind the stumps. Daisy Eke was the Rocklands top scorer with 14 as the home side finished on 58-5, Hughes taking 2-17 and Harmer 1-8.
The Under 11s have enjoyed a good season, only losing only four times and reaching the quarter-finals of the Terry Moore competition. They are likely to finish in the top 3 of the South Norfolk Community League and, if remaining results go their way, could finish as runners-up. In addition Manager Clive Gristwood has given 20 different youngsters an opportunity to play Under 11s cricket.
