Below-Par U15s Win Confortably at Ellingham

GREAT MELTON U15s beat GREAT ELLINGHAM U15s by 4 wickets at Great Ellingham in the South Norfolk Community League

Although they produced a slightly under-par performance, Great Melton Under 15's made light work of beating Great Ellingham in the South Norfolk Community League afterย bowling Ellingham out for 40 in just 12 overs. With 23 extras out of the 40, though, Melton will need toย improve some aspects of their bowling and fieldingย as it is likely to prove much more costly against stiffer opposition. However, the bowling figures reflect goodย displays fromย Ben Carding, who bowled a very tight spell (2-2-0-2),ย  Alex ‘Chalky' Rennie (2.1-0-3-2) and Rob Smith (2-1-2-1)ย with Henry Lynch picking up two wickets in two balls.

The batting display was very mixed. The loss of 3 unnecessary and avoidable wickets (including 2 poor run outs) left Melton with fewer points than wanted. Ben Carding had a confidence-boosting knock of 24 not out,ย including four 4's butย overall Melton need to preserve their wickets better as well as cut out extras as it could prove costly on another day.
