Becky’s Fine Form Continues as Melton Girls Win Again
GREAT MELTON U13 GIRLS beat MULBARTON U13s by 44 runs at Mulbarton in the south Norfolk Community League
Becky Greenslade continued her fine form with the bat as Great Melton Girls made it 3 wins out of four in the South Norfolk League with victory at Mulbarton. Becky and opening partner April Herathge struggled early on with the inconsistent bowling but, helped by numerous ‘extras', they soon got to grips and began to punish anything wide of the stumps. Becky carried her bat, falling one short of retirement on 39 while April scored 25, another fine score, before being bowled by Wright in the 15th over. Beth Harmer came into bat and, without facing a ball ran well with Becky in the final over as Melton Girls finished on 115-1.
Mulbarton started slowly. However, after the first wicket, Beth taking Wright's stumps out of the ground, wickets kept falling with Ellse picking up Amis who top-scored with 16 before being caught by Beth Harmer. Cassie Mawby bowled Holden for 1 and Holly Marchant bowled Thorpe for 12. Our opening pair of bowlers Lucy Morton, an ex Mulbarton player and Sam Willamson had put pressure onto the Mulbarton side for the word go, Sam only having 3 runs scored of her 2 overs.
Mulbarton eventually finished well short on 71-4. It was a great performance again from the girls, an all-round team effort with everyone contributing to the win. Thanks to Matt Rennie and Marcus Mawby for helping with scoring and umpiring as Chris was at the Lady Taverners competition and Joey Greenslade was enjoying his final few days celebrating leaving school.
Melton Girls play Topcroft at home this Monday.
