GREAT MELTON U13s beat GREAT ELLINGHAM U13s by 137 runs at Melton Park in the South Norfolk Community League
Great Ellingham won the toss and put Great Melton in to bat. A quick start to the innings by Corey Rushton and James Cooper put 23 runs on before an early wicket fell – Rushton (12) caught behind after just 1.4 overs. Cooper and Harrison Cunningham carried on the high scoring innings before Cooper retired for 41 in the 9th over. Peter Thomas and Henry Marsh were both dismissed in succession by Phoebe Bamford (2-26) without scoring and the wicket of Tom Barnard fell shortly – bowled by Freddie Cooper. Cunningham (40*) retired shortly after which left Ben Johnson (37*) and the excellent Mohit Badimela, who scored 43 not out off just 13 balls, to take Melton to a huge total of 199-4.
With such a large total to chase, Ellingham batted well – defending the straight ball and dispatching any balls that were slightly wayward. Will Ewin batted through the 16 overs and finished on 25 not out as the visitors reached 62-3, Tom Barnard (1-12), Peter Thomas (1-10) and Mohit (1-5) taking the wickets.
