Melton B 200-6. Blundeston and Somerleyton 133 all out. Melton B win by 67 runs.
With the sun blazing, Melton won the toss and in hot energy sapping conditions elected to bat. Initially this looked a brave decision with balls shooting and popping and molehills acting as a 12th man in the field. Openers Bugg (17) and McKay (63) set their stall out well with well judged leaves and punished bad balls giving Melton a promising start until Bugg fell first, LBW to a shooter in the 8th over. It was then McKay and Rushton (40) who further continued to pull together the roots of a competitive score, before Rushton had his woodwork cleared up looking to kick on with the score on 139. Good aggressive cricket from Eusha (13), Kai (12), and Tom ‘Timber’ Coleman (20*) pushed the score on to a well above par 200 for 6 of 45 overs.
A great opening spell from Dale Weston (10-4-13-3), an early wicket for Josh Wright (7-0-31-1) and sharp keeping on an unpredictable wicket by Kai had Blunderston wickets falling like Norwegian pines in the run up to Christmas.
Sharply taken catches by Duncan G, having a shot drilled at him at mid wicket, and Dale W kept the pressure on. It was only really H.Bamber (60) and P.Gauge (33) that offered any resistance, at times making the Melton fielding look a little wooden. Gauge eventually fell to Rushton (7-1-24-2), with Ellis (7-0-18-1) chipping in with a wicket and Lohit (6.3-0-39-2) capturing the prize wicket of Bamber to win the game for Melton by 63 runs.
With two wins on the bounce it left the team pining for more!
