Great Melton B (26 points) beat Kirkley & Lowestoft Railway A (2 points) by 10 wickets at Town Close School in the Lucas & Fettes Norfolk League Division 3
After 4 successive defeats, Great Melton B returned to winning ways with an emphatic 10-wicket victory over 9-man Kirkley & Lowestoft Railway A at Town Close. The visitors, struggling for players, were no match for Melton’s young bowling attack and there were 3 wickets each for Navin Sharma (7-1-23-3) and Jake Mardell (7-2-18-3) and 2 for Michael Farmer (9.4-1-21-2) as Railway were bowled out for 92 in 29 overs, Simon Brett giving a superb demonstration of slip fielding with 4 excellent catches. Only N.Critoph with 5 boundaries in his 23, showed any sustained resistance.
Melton then knocked off the required runs before tea without losing a wicket, skipper Woody Loines scoring an unbeaten 53 and Steve Clarke hitting 29. Melton needed just 15 overs to score 95 runs and, were able to claim the visitor’s five bowling points to give them a 26-point maximum.
