GREAT MELTON beat SPROWSTON A by 9 wickets at Melton Park in the Norfolk Alliance Division 3

I wish I could say that Melton were flattered by the result but the reality of the game does not allow. As the home side sailed past the visitors first innings score of 78 in less than 13 overs, Sprowston were a little fortunate to make the game last quite that long. A couple of missed chances meant that the Sprowston tail wagged for longer than might otherwise have been the case.

The main prongs of the attack had been Ben Carding (4-14) and skipper Harris (3-15). Carding in particular bowled excellent lines and lengths and presented a constant challenge to the batsman during  very welcome return to the First XI. The only danger to a Melton victory was a threateningly grey sky, but salvation did not materialise. The teas were excellent, with special commendation going to the array of doughnut delights. Well done Ben!?
